Two-fold framework for the project through cooperation and architecture:
interdisciplinary work and integration of the results from all subprojects

This Subproject, located in the Center for Technology and Society, takes on a framing function for the entire project:

  • Coordination of the interdisciplinary work (in both research and organizational terms),
  • Integration of the results from the various subprojects from the perspective of (interior) architecture.

Coordination

The coordinating function of this subproject involves finding a form appropriate to both the complex theme of the project and interdisciplinary cooperation.
It creates common ground for the subprojects by mediating the disciplinary perspectives. In terms of the results themselves, this consists essentially in bringing together the results from the deficit analyses and requirement lists from the various subprojects. In organizational terms, its main task lies in arranging frequent meetings of the research teams, taking protocol of the discussions, and documenting the work in progress.

Architecture

The integrating function of the subproject involves the compilation of results from the subprojects from the perspective of (interior) architecture.
Goal here is an exchange in two directions. Which new requirements for architects are suggested by the developers of household technology fitted to the needs of senior citizens? The same holds in reverse: which requirements raised by those who plan senior-friendly appliances and systems do the developers of household technology need to consider? What we hope to achieve is unimpeded planning and construction, and that measures for home adaptation reflect a heightened awareness of the kind of (technological) support older people need to maintain their independence in the home. Currently such measures primarily follow planning and construction provisions for the handicapped and those in need of care.
